Rebecca Redux is the 3rd episode of the 9th season of the show Cheers. Set in a Boston bar, the show follows the lives of the bartenders, waitresses, customers and their various misadventures.
In this episode, Rebecca (played by Kirstie Alley), the uptight manager of Cheers, is desperate to find a husband. She becomes convinced that her wealthy and powerful father will cut her off financially if she doesn't find a suitable man to marry. She enlists the help of all her coworkers at Cheers to find her a husband.
To find a suitable husband for Rebecca, the Cheers gang comes up with an elaborate plan. The plan involves setting up a fake charity auction and inviting eligible bachelors from all over Boston to bid on a date with Rebecca. The winner of the auction will be the lucky man who gets to go out on a date with Rebecca, and hopefully, impress her enough to become her husband.
While the gang is busy executing their plan, Rebecca herself is having second thoughts about the whole thing. She realizes that she doesn't want to marry just anyone, and that she really has her heart set on one particular man -- a plumber named Don who had previously fixed her broken sink. She decides to throw caution to the wind and ask Don out on a date instead.
The rest of the episode follows the various hijinks that ensue as Rebecca and Don's date goes awry, and Sam (played by Ted Danson), the charming but philandering bartender at Cheers, tries to win back the affections of his ex-girlfriend Diane (played by Shelley Long), who is visiting Boston for a few days.
Overall, Rebecca Redux is a classic episode of Cheers, full of the show's trademark humor and wit. The episode deals with themes of love, relationships, and the pursuit of happiness, and does so with a light touch that is both entertaining and poignant. Fans of Cheers will not want to miss this episode!
