Woody or Won't He is the seventeenth episode of the eighth season of the popular television show, Cheers. This episode follows Woody (played by Woody Harrelson) as he debates whether or not to run for state representative.
The episode begins with Woody telling the gang at Cheers about his decision to run for state representative. While they are all encouraging, they also express some doubt given Woody's lack of political experience. Woody is determined, however, and goes on the campaign trail with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, the gang at Cheers is having some problems of their own. Rebecca (played by Kirstie Alley) is dealing with the fact that her sister is getting married, and she feels like a failure in comparison. Sam (played by Ted Danson) is dealing with some unresolved feelings towards his ex-girlfriend, Diane. And Carla (played by Rhea Perlman) is just being Carla - quick-witted and sarcastic as always.
As Woody continues his campaign, he starts to realize that it's not as easy as he thought it would be. He struggles to connect with voters and make his message clear. In one particularly funny scene, Woody is forced to speak in front of a group of schoolchildren and he completely bombs.
Despite these setbacks, the gang at Cheers continues to support Woody. Carla even goes so far as to offer him some campaign advice, which Woody begrudgingly takes.
In the end, Woody must make a decision about whether or not to continue his campaign. He ultimately decides to withdraw, citing his lack of experience and the realization that he's simply not cut out for politics.
Overall, Woody or Won't He is a funny and memorable episode of Cheers. It touches on several different themes, including politics and self-doubt. The episode is a great showcase for Woody Harrelson's comedic talents, as well as the chemistry between the entire cast. Fans of the show will no doubt enjoy this episode, which offers a mix of humor and heart.
