In "Diane's Allergy," the tenth episode of season three of Cheers, we are introduced to a new and unexpected turn of events. Diane Chambers, the intelligent and sophisticated waitress of the bar, suddenly develops an unusual allergy, which leaves her with a strange rash all over her body.
As the episode progresses, we see Diane struggling with her condition. She desperately tries to hide her rash from the customers, but her efforts are in vain. Everyone, including her coworkers, soon find out about her condition and offer their sympathy and help. Sam Malone, the charming owner of the bar, even tries to find a solution to Diane's predicament by consulting various medical books and physicians.
Meanwhile, Woody Boyd, the naive and kind-hearted bartender, tries to cheer Diane up by getting her a "get well" balloon and singing her a song. However, his plan backfires when the balloon pops, startling Diane and causing her to become even more upset.
As the situation escalates, we see Diane becoming more and more frustrated with her condition. She grows increasingly snappy with everyone around her and lashes out at Sam when he tries to intervene. Eventually, Diane reaches a breaking point and decides to quit her job at Cheers, believing that her rash is caused by the bar's cheap detergent.
In the end, however, it is revealed that Diane's allergy was not caused by anything at Cheers, but by a new perfume she had been using. After she stops using the perfume, her rash disappears, and she returns to work at the bar, much to everyone's relief.
Overall, "Diane's Allergy" is a lighthearted and humorous episode that showcases the quirky characters and their unique personalities. It also highlights the compassion and camaraderie that exists within the Cheers bar, as everyone rallies around Diane to offer their support and understanding.
