Diane, who is jealous of Sam's ex-girlfriends, struggles to deal with the situation as she believes that Sam still has feelings for the ex-girlfriend, Janet Eldridge. The episode opens with Sam receiving a phone call from his ex-girlfriend, Janet Eldridge, who informs him that she is in town on business and would like to catch up with him. Sam is thrilled at the prospect of seeing her again, but Diane is immediately suspicious. She remembers how Sam has talked about Janet before, and believes that he is not over her yet.
Diane's suspicions are confirmed when Sam begins to act strangely around Janet, acting nervous and tongue-tied. She becomes increasingly jealous of Janet, especially when she sees the two of them hugging. Diane confides in Carla, who tells her that she needs to take control of the situation by either confronting Sam or finding a way to make him jealous.
Meanwhile, Cliff and Norm are excited about the latest homebrewing fad and decide to start their own business selling their own brand of beer. However, they quickly run into problems when they discover that their beer is terrible. Dead set on making a success of their venture, they seek advice from a homebrewing expert, who gives them some tips on how to improve their recipe.
As the episode progresses, Diane becomes increasingly convinced that Sam is still in love with Janet. She starts to observe his behavior more closely, and notices that he keeps talking about how much he enjoyed their time together in the past. She decides to confront him about his feelings, and they have a heated argument.
Meanwhile, Cliff and Norm are successful in improving their beer, and are thrilled when they make their first big sale. However, their happiness is short-lived when they discover that the beer was purchased as a joke by a group of customers who wanted to see if it was as bad as they had heard.
At the end of the episode, Sam and Diane have a heart-to-heart conversation, where he admits that he has some unresolved feelings for Janet, but assures her that he is committed to their relationship. Diane accepts this, and they share a tender moment.
