The Beer is Always Greener is the second episode of the eleventh season of Cheers. The episode begins with Rebecca concerned about losing a contract for the bar. She decides to call her dad and plead with him to help her get the contract. However, her father is preoccupied with finding a new "itch" to scratch and ignores her plea for help. In the meantime, Woody has started brewing his own beer and tries to get the patent for it. However, he runs into a problem when he discovers that the beer he brewed is not as unique as he thought.
As Woody tries to figure out what to do with his brewing dilemma, the rest of the gang starts to come up with ideas to help him. Cliff suggests that Woody contacts a beer-patent lawyer, while Carla advises him to put a unique spin on the beer to make it stand out. Meanwhile, Rebecca decides to take matters into her own hands by trying to win the contract from the other bar owner. She finds out that the other bar owner is a woman and decides to use her feminine wiles to get the contract, but this plan backfires when the woman turns out to be a lesbian.
As the episode progresses, Woody discovers that his beer has already been patented by a large brewery, which devastates him. He becomes worried that he will never be able to compete with such a big company and that his dream of having his own brewery will never come true. However, the gang decides to rally around Woody and help him out in any way they can.
Rebecca's attempt to win the contract also takes a surprising turn when the woman she was trying to seduce turns out to be the mother of the man she is currently dating. This leads to a hilarious series of events where Rebecca tries to explain to the man why his mother was in her office.
In the end, Woody is able to come up with a unique spin on his beer by using a special ingredient that he had in his refrigerator all along. This makes his beer stand out and results in him getting a patent for it. Meanwhile, Rebecca is able to make amends with the woman she tried to seduce and is able to secure the contract for the bar.
The Beer is Always Greener is a classic episode of Cheers that showcases the humor and heart that made the show so beloved. The episode highlights the importance of friendship and shows how the gang at Cheers always has each other's backs.
