In the season 10 premiere of Cheers, entitled "Baby Balk," the regulars at the bar are thrown for a loop when Carla's husband Eddie returns to town with a surprise - a brand new baby boy. That's right, Carla is now a mother of eight!
The gang is taken aback by the news, but they quickly rally around Carla, offering their congratulations and support. While she initially tries to keep the baby a secret, it quickly becomes clear that this is no easy feat. After all, this is Cheers - a place where secrets are hard to keep and everyone knows everyone else's business.
As Carla adjusts to life as a new mom, she finds herself struggling to balance her responsibilities at home with her job at the bar. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang is dealing with their own sets of problems. Sam is trying to come to terms with the fact that he's turning 40, Cliff is trying to win a bet with Norm, and Woody is dealing with some unexpected family drama.
Despite all the chaos, however, the gang at Cheers remains as tight-knit as ever. They offer each other support and advice, and even babysit baby Balk when Carla needs some time off. It's a heartwarming display of the kind of bond that can be formed over a few beers at a neighborhood bar.
Of course, it wouldn't be Cheers without its fair share of laughs, and "Baby Balk" doesn't disappoint in that regard. There are plenty of one-liners and comedic moments to keep things light, even as the characters deal with some weighty issues.
Overall, "Baby Balk" is a great start to season 10 of Cheers. It's a reminder of why this show was so beloved during its original run, and why it continues to be a favorite amongst fans even today. With its mix of heart, humor, and relatable characters, it's the perfect way to spend a half-hour in front of the TV.
