Ep 14. Let Me Count the Ways

Sam decides to do something special for Diane after she admits that she has never had a surprise party thrown for her. Meanwhile, Norm becomes apprehensive about the surprise party when he finds out that Diane's old friend, a renowned poet who once proposed to her, is coming to the party. While everyone is preoccupied with the party, Carla takes her old boyfriend, Slug, up on an offer to have dinner with him. The night soon takes a disastrous turn when Slug insults Carla and is thrown out of the bar. When the poet arrives at the party and starts reciting his work, everyone is captivated except for Diane. Sam tries to cheer her up, but she only sees the party as a bunch of men trying to impress her. As the party is winding down, Diane has an unexpected outburst, ruining the evening. The episode ends with Sam and Diane's future uncertain.
