Charlie and Lola season 1 episode 5, named "There is Only One Sun and That is Me!", follows the adventures of Charlie and his younger sister Lola as they spend the day in the park. The siblings have an argument about whether the sun follows them or if they follow the sun.
As the episode begins, Charlie and Lola are playing in the park, and Lola spots the sun. She is excited and yells out that she has found the sun. Charlie is quick to explain to her that the sun is always there, and it is not something that can be found. Lola continues to argue that she found the sun and that it is following them. She even tries to run away from the sun to prove that it is following her.
Charlie tries to explain to Lola that the sun is always there, and we cannot run away from it because it is a part of our solar system. He even draws a diagram to show her how the sun and the planets interact. Lola is not convinced and continues to insist that the sun is following her.
The children continue to play in the park, and Lola gets a chance to test out her theory. She hides behind a tree and peeks out to see if the sun is still following her. However, when she does not see the sun, she panics and yells out for Charlie. Her big brother explains that the sun is still there, even if we cannot see it at times. He gives an example of the sky being cloudy but the sun still being present.
Lola finally asks why the sun is so important, and Charlie explains that the sun is the source of all life on Earth. He tells her about photosynthesis and how plants use the energy from the sun to grow. This impresses Lola, and she agrees with Charlie that the sun is very important.
As the day in the park draws to a close, Charlie and Lola are lying on their backs, looking up at the sky. Lola realizes that the sun is always there, and they are not following it. She says that there is only one sun, and that is her. Charlie laughs and tells Lola that the sun is for everyone, and we all share it.
In the end, Charlie and Lola have learned that the sun is always there and that it is an essential part of our solar system. They have also learned that it is essential to share things, even the sun! This episode teaches children about the basics of our solar system and the importance of sharing.
