Ep 1. Pilot

Chad Season 1 Episode 1, "Pilot," follows 14-year-old Iranian-American Chad as he navigates the trials and tribulations of adolescence. Chad is determined to become popular, but his attempts consistently fall short, leaving him feeling out of place and the target of ridicule from his classmates.

The episode begins with Chad waking up on the first day of school, excited to start fresh and reinvent himself as a cool kid. As Chad goes through the day, we see snippets of his home life with his mother, father, and younger sister. His mother, Naz, is an overbearing and traditional Iranian woman who wants Chad to uphold their family's values and traditions. His father, Hamid, is more laid back and understanding, but still struggles to connect with his son. Chad's sister, Niki, is the only person in his family who truly understands him and supports him.

Throughout the episode, Chad's attempts to fit in become increasingly desperate. He tries to impress the popular kids by doing a rap performance at lunch, but it falls flat. He tries to get sympathy from a girl he likes by faking an injury, but she sees right through his act. In a last ditch effort to impress the popular kids, Chad throws a party at his house, but things quickly get out of control and he ends up embarrassing himself even further.

Despite all of his failures, Chad remains optimistic. He confides in his sister Niki, who encourages him to keep trying and not give up on his dreams of fitting in. The episode ends with Chad back in his room, reflecting on his day and looking at a picture of himself as a child. He realizes that he's still the same person he's always been, and that's okay. He vows to keep trying to fit in, but this time on his own terms.

Overall, "Pilot" sets the tone for the rest of the series as a coming-of-age story about a boy who just wants to fit in. It's a relatable and sometimes painful portrayal of the awkwardness and humiliation that comes with adolescence. The show is filled with cringe-worthy moments, but also moments of heart and humor.
