Ep 2. The Biggest Loser

Tonya and Gary are a couple who have two dogs, a Rottweiler and a Boxer. They have been together for five years and have never had any serious problems until recently. Tonya is a stay-at-home mom and Gary is a truck driver who is only home on weekends. The Rottweiler, Major, has been getting more aggressive towards Gary as he enters the house. The couple is worried that Major might someday attack Gary. Cesar Millan is called in to help Major and the couple.

Cesar observes Major and sees that he has become the dominant dog in the household. The couple has unknowingly given Major the power to decide who can come in the house and who can't. Major has learned to control the entrance to the house by growling and lunging at Gary. Cesar also finds out that Major has no discipline and is very overweight.

The first thing Cesar does is take Major on a walk to assess his fitness. Cesar notes that Major is very overweight and that is contributing to his aggressive behavior. Cesar also sees that Major is not getting enough exercise. Cesar’s assessment of the dog’s physical fitness is very important to help the dog to behave in a better manner.

Cesar then works with Gary to show him how to establish control over Major. Gary is nervous about getting attacked by the dog and Cesar helps him overcome his fear. Gary learns that he needs to be calm and assertive and project positive energy to the dog. Gary also learns to use his body language to show Major who is in charge.

Cesar also works with Tonya to show her the importance of exercise for Major. They start taking him on regular walks and a controlled diet to help him to lose weight. Cesar also shows Tonya how to give Major positive reinforcement when he obeys commands.

During the training process, Major starts to lose weight and his energy levels increase. The couple is amazed at how different Major is behaving. They can now enter the house without any problems from Major. Gary is also amazed at how calm he feels around the dog.

In the end, Tonya and Gary are very grateful for Cesar's help with Major. They have learned that Major needed more exercise and a controlled diet as well as discipline to help him behave better. Major is now a happier, healthier dog who is no longer aggressive to Gary. This episode shows how Cesar can help dogs that have become aggressive towards certain family members and how a proper diet and exercise regiment can help them become well behaved and happy dogs.
