In the third episode of season 2 of Cells at Work!, our beloved Red Blood Cell and White Blood Cell return to continue their adventure into the human body. This time, they are tackling two health conditions: Dengue Fever and Acne.
The episode begins with Red Blood Cell delivering her usual deliveries of oxygen and nutrients throughout the body when she suddenly gets attacked by a virus. The virus the Red Blood Cell encounters is the notorious Dengue Fever, a condition caused by specific mosquitoes that transfer the virus to their victim's bloodstream. As the White Blood Cell fights with Dengue fever, a new character named Macrophage joins to fight alongside him. Macrophage is a phagocyte that engulfs and digests pathogens and debris in the body. We are introduced to the inner workings of the immune system as Macrophage shares her knowledge on Dengue fever and how humans can prevent it.

In this episode, we are also introduced to a new Red Blood Cell carrying Carbon Dioxide instead of Oxygen: a sign that we are now in the body's pulmonary system. This system takes oxygen to the tissues and removes carbon dioxide.
The show carries the audience along on a journey throughout the hair follicles and sebaceous glands where the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes causing the Acne condition reside. We watch White Blood Cells such as Neutrophil do their job by attempting to fight the bacteria in the acne and the clogged skin pores.
