Rev. Richard Coles is a former pop star turned reverend, radio host, and TV personality. He is joined by Scottish actor and Strictly Come Dancing winner Joe McFadden. They both have a passion for antiques and love the thrill of the hunt for unique items.
Their first stop is in Market Harborough, where they meet with dealer Paul Martin. Martin shows them a few items, including a vintage map of Australia and a set of silver napkin rings. Next, they visit a local antiques market where Joe is immediately drawn to a vintage toy robot, while Richard is interested in a carved wooden Buddha statue.
The journey takes them through the beautiful countryside of Oxfordshire, where they visit a charming antique shop. Here, they admire a few items, including a set of Georgian decanters, a bronze statue of a horse, and a Victorian silver christening cup.
In Bristol, they meet with dealer James Braxton, who shows them a few more unique items, including a pair of Art Deco bronze bookends, a rare late 19th-century Persian rug, and a Regency funnel. Richard and Joe are particularly fascinated by the Persian rug and its beautiful intricate design.
The celebrity duo's next stop is the city of Bath, where they visit an antique shop offering various items, including a Celtic cross pendant from the 12th century, a Victorian stirrup cup, and a Georgian-style umbrella stand. Richard and Joe are intrigued by the ancient Celtic cross, and Joe tries on the 18th-century top hat for a humorous effect.
Finally, they end their journey at an auction house in Devizes, where they hope to make a good profit from their unique antique finds. Auctioneer Tim Weeks is joined by expert Christina Trevanion, who appraises the items and advises the celebrities on their potential worth.
As the auction begins, Richard's carved wooden Buddha statue and Joe's vintage toy robot attract some attention from the bidders. Joe's robot sells for a high price, while Richard's Buddha statue exceeds Tim's valuation.
With the auction coming to a close, Richard and Joe eagerly wait to see how much money they have made from their antique finds. They are both thrilled to realize that they have made a significant profit, with the added bonus of enjoying the whole experience of the Antique Road Trip.
