Deonn and Lanise have been in an online relationship for two years, and they've never met in person. They've never even video chatted. Deonn is ready to take their relationship to the next level and meet in person, but Lanise always seems to have an excuse as to why they can't meet. Deonn is suspicious and wonders if Lanise is hiding something from him.
Enter Nev and Kamie, who are ready to investigate. After diving into Lanise's social media profiles and talking to her friends and family, the two hosts discover that Lanise may not be who she says she is. The pictures on her social media profiles are all of the same person, but that person is not Lanise. Nev and Kamie track down the real person in the photos and discover that she's never heard of Deonn or Lanise.
Deonn is devastated. He thought he had found the love of his life, but it turns out that he's been talking to someone who isn't even real. However, the investigation doesn't end there. Nev and Kamie continue to dig deeper and eventually uncover the person who was pretending to be Lanise.
The person behind the fake profile is someone that Deonn and Lanise both knew. It's a shocking revelation, and Deonn is furious that someone he considered a friend would deceive him in this way. Nev and Kamie bring the two parties together so they can confront each other face-to-face.
The confrontation is heated, and emotions run high. Deonn feels betrayed and hurt, while the person who created the fake profile defends their actions, saying that they never meant to hurt anyone. In the end, Nev and Kamie help the two parties come to a resolution and learn from their mistakes.
Overall, this episode of Catfish: The TV Show is a cautionary tale about the dangers of online relationships and the importance of being honest with yourself and others. It also shows the power of forgiveness and how people can grow and learn from their mistakes.
