Zay & Jayda are the focus of Season 8, Episode 17 of Catfish: The TV Show. The episode follows Zay, a 20-year-old from Ohio who has been in an online relationship with Jayda, a 19-year-old from Indiana, for three years. Despite their virtual relationship, Zay has never met Jayda in person, and they have never even video chatted.
Nev and Kamie are suspicious of Jayda's identity from the beginning, as she seems too good to be true. She's beautiful, accomplished, and has a seemingly perfect life. But as they begin their investigation, they discover inconsistencies in her story and connections to other social media profiles that raise more questions than answers.
One of the most significant red flags is that Jayda refuses to video chat with Zay or send him any current pictures. Instead, she sends old photos of herself that are easily found on social media. This leads Nev and Kamie to believe that Jayda may be using someone else's pictures to hide her true identity.
As Nev and Kamie investigate further, they discover a shocking twist that changes the entire course of the episode. Zay's ex-girlfriend, Gabrielle, reached out to Nev and Kamie to share her suspicions that Zay is actually the one catfishing Jayda. At first, Nev and Kamie are hesitant to believe Gabrielle, but as they dig deeper into Zay's social media profiles, they realize that there are indeed some discrepancies in his story.
Zay initially denies any involvement in catfishing Jayda, but as the truth begins to come out, he admits that he created the persona of Jayda to escape his unhappy home life and deal with his own insecurities.
The episode is emotional and intense, as Zay and Jayda both come to terms with the fact that their online relationship was not what it seemed. As always, Nev and Kamie offer their guidance and support to help both Zay and Jayda move forward from this experience.
Overall, Season 8, Episode 17 of Catfish: The TV Show is a riveting installment of the popular series that explores the often murky world of online relationships and deception.
