Dustin & Keegan is the fourteenth episode of the eighth season of Catfish: The TV Show. The episode follows the story of Dustin, a former pastor who is in a long-distance relationship with a man named Keegan. Dustin, who had only recently come out as gay, had met Keegan on a dating app and had been talking to him for about four months. Keegan, however, had never revealed his true identity to Dustin and had been posing as a man named Nick.
Dustin had fallen for Nick, who he believed to be a 29-year-old contractor, despite never having met him in person. He had even gone so far as to introduce Nick to his family and friends and had plans to move to California to be with him. However, there were a few red flags that had made Dustin suspicious of Nick's identity. For starters, Nick refused to video chat with Dustin and had never provided him with any photos of himself. Additionally, Nick's social media profiles were practically non-existent, which made Dustin wonder if something was amiss.
In an attempt to get some answers, Dustin had turned to Nev and Kamie, the hosts of Catfish: The TV Show. They agreed to help Dustin track down Nick and discover his true identity. They began the investigation by doing some basic research and discovered that the phone number that Nick had been using was registered to a woman named Sabrina. When they went to Sabrina's house, they found out that she had been a victim of identity theft and that her number had been used by someone else.
The hosts then decided to call Nick and confront him about his true identity. Nick, who was initially uncooperative, eventually admitted that he was not who he said he was and that his real name was Alex. He revealed that he had been using someone else's photos because he was self-conscious about his own appearance. Alex had never intended for his relationship with Dustin to get so serious, but he had found himself falling for him despite himself.
When Dustin finally met Alex in person, he was understandably nervous. However, after some initial awkwardness, the two men seemed to hit it off. They both admitted to having feelings for each other, but also acknowledged that they had a lot of work to do if they wanted to build a real relationship based on honesty and trust. The episode ended on a hopeful note, with the two men agreeing to take things slow and see where their relationship could take them.
Overall, Dustin & Keegan was a typical episode of Catfish: The TV Show that followed the familiar format of uncovering an online scammer and helping a victim of catfishing to find closure. However, the episode also touched on some deeper themes of self-acceptance and the importance of honesty in relationships. It was an emotional journey for Dustin, who had to come to terms with his own insecurities and learn to trust again after being deceived. But ultimately, he was able to find a potential partner in Alex and begin building a new life together.
