Ep 16. Robert & Ashleigh

In this episode of Catfish: The TV Show season 6, hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph are contacted by a young man named Robert who believes he's in an online relationship with a girl named Ashleigh. Robert is a 27-year-old security guard and a father of two. He claims to have met Ashleigh on Facebook, and they've been talking for over a year-and-a-half. However, Robert's claims of a serious, loving relationship with Ashleigh are met with suspicion by his friends. They tell Nev and Max that Robert has made a habit of lying to them in the past, and they doubt the existence of Ashleigh.

Robert is convinced that his relationship with Ashleigh is real. He believes that they are in love and that Ashleigh is the one for him. He tells Nev and Max that Ashleigh has claimed to be a model and a fitness coach. However, Robert has never been able to video chat with Ashleigh, and he's never even heard her voice. He's never talked to her on the phone because, he claims, Ashleigh has an anxiety disorder that prevents her from speaking on the phone.

Nev and Max start their investigation by looking into Ashleigh's social media profiles. They quickly discover that Ashleigh's online presence is very limited. Ashleigh seems to have only one social media account, and it has very little information on it. Nev and Max find a few pictures of Ashleigh, but they all look like they've been pulled from someone else's social media accounts. They even find one where the head has been superimposed on a different body.

As they dig deeper, Nev and Max start to become more suspicious of Ashleigh's true identity. They reach out to some of Ashleigh's supposed friends, but none of them seem to know who she is. They try to track down the IP address of Ashleigh's Facebook account, but they hit dead ends. Nev and Max start to suspect that Robert may be the victim of a catfish, and they slowly start to build their case.

Once Nev and Max have gathered all the information they can, they meet up with Robert and reveal the results of their investigation. Robert is heartbroken when he learns that Ashleigh is not who she claimed to be. However, in a twist, Ashleigh's true identity is not what Nev and Max or even Robert expected.

The episode comes to an emotional conclusion as Robert confronts Ashleigh's real identity and comes to terms with the fact that his online love story was not what it seemed. The episode serves as a reminder of the dangers of online relationships and the importance of being cautious when building relationships with people you've never met in person.
