Ray & Lexi is the seventh episode of the fifth season of Catfish: The TV Show. In this episode, Nev and Max meet Ray, who is 26 years old and lives in Virginia. Ray is on the show because he's been talking to a girl named Lexi for four years, and they've never met in person.
Ray and Lexi met on Facebook when Ray was 22 years old. Lexi was 18 at the time. They quickly hit it off, and they started talking every day. Ray says that he fell in love with Lexi pretty quickly, and they started talking about meeting in person. However, every time they tried to schedule a meeting, something would come up and Lexi wouldn't be able to come.
After four years of virtual communication, Ray is starting to think that something might be wrong. He's never seen Lexi on video chat, and she always has an excuse for why she can't talk. Ray is worried that Lexi might not be who she says she is. He's tried to talk to her about this, but Lexi always shuts down the conversation.
That's where Nev and Max come in. Ray has reached out to the show hoping that they can help him finally meet Lexi in person. Nev and Max are skeptical, though. They're worried that Ray might be getting catfished.
They start their investigation by looking at Lexi's Instagram page. They notice that all of her photos are from the same angle, and none of them show her face. They also notice that she hasn't posted anything in a while. This sets off some red flags for Nev and Max.
They call Lexi's phone number and leave a message, but they don't get a response. They also try to track down Lexi's Facebook page, but they can't find one. Finally, they do a reverse image search on Lexi's photos and find out that they're all stolen from a model's Instagram account.
Nev and Max confront Ray with this information, and he's devastated. He's been talking to someone who isn't real for four years. However, he's not ready to give up on finding love. Nev and Max help him set up a new dating profile, and they give him some advice on how to avoid getting catfished in the future.
In the end, Ray realizes that he needs to be more careful when talking to people online. He also realizes that he doesn't need to rush into finding love. Nev and Max help him see that it's okay to take things slow and make sure that he's talking to a real person before investing too much time and emotion into the relationship.
Overall, Ray & Lexi is a cautionary tale about the dangers of online dating. It's a reminder that not everyone is who they say they are on the internet, and that it's important to be vigilant when talking to strangers online. However, it's also a story about hope and resilience. Ray may have been catfished, but he's ready to get back out there and try again.
