Ep 4. Daisy & Marcus

"Daisy & Marcus" is the fourth episode in the fourth season of the hit MTV show Catfish: The TV Show. Hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph travel to Iowa to help Daisy, a 19-year-old girl, find out the truth about the mysterious Marcus who she met on a dating app. Daisy and Marcus have been talking for eight months and she has fallen in love with him, but they have never met in person and he always seems to have an excuse for why they can't meet up.

In the initial phone call with Nev and Max, Daisy is eager to learn as much about Marcus as possible, and reveals that she and Marcus talk every day. She also shares that Marcus has given her his address, but when she looked it up on Google Maps, it turned out to be a vacant lot. Daisy has become suspicious of Marcus because he always seems to make excuses when she suggests they meet up. She believes Marcus is hiding something from her and wants Nev and Max's help in finding out the truth.

Nev and Max arrive in Iowa and meet Daisy at a local restaurant. Daisy eagerly shares more about her relationship with Marcus, including that they talk on the phone every day for hours. Daisy tells Nev and Max that Marcus works as a trucker and that he's always traveling, which is why they haven't met yet. Daisy is hopeful that Marcus is telling her the truth, but also admits that she's scared to meet him in person because she's worried that he could be lying to her about his identity.

Nev and Max start their investigation by trying to track down Marcus. They start by searching through social media profiles and find several different Marcus's with similar names and backgrounds. The hosts also discover that a picture Marcus sent to Daisy was actually taken from a different social media profile. This leads them to believe that Marcus may be using a fake identity.

As they continue their investigation, Nev and Max come across a trucking profile that matches the description of Marcus's job. But when they message the profile, the response is odd and Nev and Max suspect that it's not actually Marcus. They realize that they need to find a way to confirm Marcus's identity before they can meet him in person.

With the help of their production team, Nev and Max set up a fake Facebook profile to try and get Marcus to reveal more about himself. They create a character called "Lena" and start talking to Marcus from this profile. At first, Marcus seems to believe the fake profile is real, but when "Lena" suggests they meet up, Marcus suddenly disappears.

Nev and Max are finally able to confront Marcus when they track him down to a motel. Marcus reveals that he's been using a fake identity and photo to talk to Daisy, but insists that he genuinely cares for her. Marcus explains that he's been going through a tough time, including a rough break-up, and that he created the fake profile as a coping mechanism. He apologizes for lying and agrees to meet with Daisy in person.

In the final scenes of the episode, Daisy and Marcus finally meet in person. They both seem nervous but excited to finally be able to spend time together without any lies or hiding. Daisy admits that she still has feelings for Marcus, but wonders if she can trust him after all the lies. The episode ends with a promise from Marcus to be honest with Daisy in the future, and a hopeful but uncertain future for their relationship.
