CatDog season 1 episode 18 consists of two segments: "Home is Where the Dirt Is" and "New Leash on Life".
In "Home is Where the Dirt Is", Cat and Dog stumble upon an old bone in their backyard, which they believe may be a dinosaur bone. The two start digging and soon strike oil, causing chaos in the neighborhood. The discovery brings investors from all over who offer CatDog large sums of money for their land. Being naive and without the knowledge of oil drilling, Cat and Dog believe the oil is endless and continue to sell to the highest bidder. However, soon their property becomes a polluted wasteland, and CatDog realizes that their home and friendships are worth more than any amount of money.
In "New Leash on Life", Cat and Dog are taken to the dog pound, where they meet a dog named Rancid Rabbit. Unlike Cat and Dog, Rancid is thrilled about being in the pound and is excited to get a new owner. While Cat is eager to find a way out, Dog becomes attached to Rancid and becomes determined to help him find a new home. The trio comes across a wealthy woman looking for a new dog, and Rancid decides to put on a show to impress her. However, the show goes awry, and Rancid is returned to the pound. Cat and Dog realize that the only way to help their friend is to adopt him themselves, and the trio enjoys a loving home together.
Overall, "Home is Where the Dirt Is" and "New Leash on Life" showcase the importance of friendship, loyalty, and home. While Cat and Dog may not always see eye to eye, they stick together through thick and thin, and their bond only grows stronger. The central themes of both segments teach children about the value of home and the importance of cherishing it. The episodes also teach children to be kind to those in need, as well as the value of loyalty and compassion.
