Ep 5. Hack Attack!

In season 2 episode 5 of Catch a Contractor, titled "Hack Attack!", host Adam Carolla and his team are on a mission to help a family whose home renovation project has gone wrong. The homeowners, the Magliatos, had hired a contractor named Martin Andrade to remodel their bathroom, but he disappeared midway through the project, leaving them with an unfinished and unsafe space.

Adam and his team first meet with the Magliatos to assess the damage and hear their story. The couple explains how Andrade had seemed like a trustworthy and experienced contractor when they hired him, but soon after starting the project, he began making excuses for not showing up and started requesting more money than what was originally agreed upon.

Feeling like they were being taken advantage of, the Magliatos decided to look into Andrade's background and discovered that he had a criminal record and had gone bankrupt multiple times. They confronted him about this, but he promised to make things right and asked for more time. The Magliatos reluctantly agreed, but Andrade never returned to finish the job.

Adam and his team then go out to hunt down Andrade and bring him to justice. They start by visiting the last address that he had given to the Magliatos, but it turns out to be a vacant lot. They then search for his name on social media and online directories, but come up empty-handed.

Finally, after some more digging, they discover that Andrade had been using a fake name and had been working as an unlicensed contractor for years. They use this information to track him down to a new construction site where he was working under yet another alias.

Adam and his team then confront Andrade and give him a chance to make things right with the Magliatos. They tell him that if he agrees to finish the bathroom renovation and makes sure it meets the necessary safety standards, they won't press charges for his unlicensed work. Andrade agrees and gets to work, but not without some initial resistance.

Throughout the episode, viewers get to see the extent of the damage to the Magliato's bathroom and the dangerous shortcuts that Andrade had taken in his original work. They also get to witness the emotional toll that the situation had taken on the homeowners and their young daughter.

In the end, Adam and his team are able to successfully catch a contractor and help a family in need. The Magliatos are thrilled to finally have a safe and functional bathroom, and Andrade has learned a valuable lesson about the importance of honesty and integrity in the construction industry.
