The episode opens with Rob and Sharon back in their natural habitat, their apartment, after their beach vacation in episode 1. They're trying to settle back into their routine, but it's not quite as they remember it- they're both perpetually exhausted and their toddler, Frankie, has become incredibly clingy since they returned. It's the first night of the new school year for Frankie, and Rob and Sharon are hastily trying to prepare him for his first day of school. Things seem to be going well until Frankie drops a bombshell - he doesn't want to go to school anymore.

This revelation throws Rob and Sharon into a panic - they both work full-time jobs and can't really afford for one of them to stay home with Frankie. They try to talk him through it, but his stubbornness seems to stem from something deeper. Worried about what could be the cause of his sudden disinterest in school, they decide it's best to take Frankie to the doctor.

Meanwhile, Rob's mother Mia (played by Carrie Fisher) is also having a rough go of it. She's still feeling the effects of her husband's death and is lonely without him. She gets a surprise visit from her ex-boyfriend Tom (played by Mark Bonnar), and despite her reservations, the two of them end up spending the night together.

Back at the doctor's office, it's revealed that Frankie's reluctance to go to school might be due to bullying from a boy in his class. Rob and Sharon are understandably outraged and confront the boy's mother, resulting in a shouting match in the middle of the playground. While the confrontation is satisfying, it doesn't really solve the problem - Rob and Sharon are still left wondering how to protect their son from bullies.

The episode ends with Rob and Sharon having a heart to heart about their finances. As their expenses continue to pile up, they realize that they may need to consider some drastic measures to make ends meet. It's a sobering moment, but one that shows how deeply they care for each other and their family.

Overall, this episode touches on a lot of relatable themes, from parenting struggles to financial worries. The show continues to nail its blend of comedy and emotional depth, making it a joy to watch. Fans of the series won't want to miss episode 2.
