In episode 9 of Cash Cab, passengers enter the famous taxi in hopes of winning big cash prizes by answering a variety of trivia questions. Host Ben Bailey starts off the episode by picking up his first set of passengers, a group of young professionals heading to a networking event. Bailey wastes no time in challenging the passengers with his first set of questions, ranging from pop culture to geography.
As the cab travels through the busy streets of New York City, Bailey continues to test the passengers' knowledge, increasing the difficulty of the questions as they rack up more cash. The passengers seem to be a strong team, quickly arriving at the $1,000 question without using any of their lifelines. However, their luck begins to run out as Bailey asks a question about a famous composer, and not one of the passengers seems to know the answer.
Bailey then picks up his next set of passengers, a couple on their way to catch a Broadway show. The couple is excited to play the game and begins to work their way through the questions with ease, winning cash along the way. However, the couple finds themselves in a sticky situation when they can't decide on the answer to one of the questions, ultimately using their Street Shoutout lifeline to ask a passerby.
As the episode progresses, Bailey picks up more passengers, challenging them with tougher questions that require them to use their lifelines. One group of friends seems to be particularly skilled, breezing through the questions and racking up an impressive amount of cash.
As the cab approaches the final destination, Bailey gives the passengers the chance to double their earnings with a double or nothing question. One brave passenger decides to take the risk, answering a difficult question about literature, and walks away with an astounding $4,000.
In the end, the passengers all leave the cab smiling, having had a fun and educational ride through the city. Bailey wraps up the episode by reminding viewers that anyone could have a chance at the Cash Cab, and encourages them to never stop learning and exploring the world around them.
