In Carnival Eats season 2 episode 2, titled "From Renaissance to Rio Grande," your taste buds will take a gastronomic journey from Renaissance festivities in Georgia, all the way to the fiery flavors of the Rio Grande's cuisine. Host Noah Cappe starts his adventure at the Georgia Renaissance Festival, where he samples Turkey legs, fried cheese and a humongous turkey leg that weighs two pounds! Then it's off to the Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto for the first-ever Taco Fest, where Noah discovers some unique and unusual takes on the classic Mexican favorite. From deep-fried avocado to Hungarian chicken paprikush tacos, Noah's taste buds are certainly in for a treat.
Next, Noah travels to San Antonio, Texas, to discover the street food culture of the Lone Star State. From chimichangas to churros, there's a plethora of offerings in San Antonio. Noah's first stop is La Fogata, where he tries their famous puffy tacos and some homemade guacamole. He also visits the Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery, a family-run establishment that has been serving up traditional Mexican cuisine since 1941. Finally, Noah samples some Cowboy Nachos, which are loaded with meat and toppings, at The Big Bib BBQ, a local favorite.
After San Antonio, Noah heads to the Rio Grande Valley, where he discovers some truly delicious Tex-Mex cuisine. He visits Vera's Backyard Bar-B-Que, where he tries the Chalupa Supreme, a dish that includes a crispy, fried tortilla bowl filled with shredded chicken and vegetables. Next, Noah visits the Peñitas Pachanga Festival, where he samples some of the most delicious food in South Texas. From funnel cake to turkey legs, there's something for everyone at this popular festival.
Finally, Noah heads to San Benito, Texas, for the Freddy Fender Festival. Named after the late Tejano music legend, this festival celebrates the rich history and culture of South Texas. Noah visits one of the many food vendors at the festival, where he tries some delicious Carne Guisada, a classic Tex-Mex dish made with tender beef and a spicy gravy.
