Captain Planet and the Planeteers season 1 episode 7, titled "Last Of Her Kind," follows the adventures of five teenagers from different parts of the world who possess magical rings that allow them to control natural elements like fire, water, earth, wind, and heart. Together with their mentor, Gaia - the spirit of the earth, they embark on a mission to save the planet from environmental disasters and stop the evil plans of villains who seek to exploit its resources.
In this episode, the Planeteers are sent to a remote African village to investigate reports of a rare black rhino that is being hunted for its horn. As they arrive, they meet a young girl named Tulee who tells them that she knows where the rhino's hiding place is and offers to take them there.
As they travel deeper into the wilderness, Tulee shares the story of her tribe. They were once the guardians of the black rhinos, but over the years, poachers had killed most of the animals, leaving only one remaining. Tulee's grandfather had protected the rhino for many years until he passed away, and now it was up to her to continue his legacy.
When they reach the rhino's hiding place, the Planeteers discover that Tulee has been caring for the animal by herself, despite the dangers of poachers and droughts. They commend her bravery and offer to help her protect the rhino from harm.
However, their plans are interrupted when Sly Sludge and Looten Plunder, two of the Planeteers' arch-nemeses, arrive on the scene with a group of armed poachers. They want the rhino's horn to sell on the black market, and will stop at nothing to get it.
A battle ensues, with the Planeteers using their powers and Tulee's knowledge of the land to fight off the poachers. Eventually, they succeed in driving them away, but not before the rhino is injured.
As they tend to the animal's wounds, Tulee reveals that her tribe has a ritual that honors the spirit of the black rhino. They believe that by performing the ritual, the rhino will be protected from harm and the cycle of life will continue.
The Planeteers help organize the ritual, which involves singing, dancing, and offering gifts to the rhino. It is a moving ceremony that demonstrates the deep connection between humans and the natural world.
After the ceremony, the Planeteers bid farewell to Tulee and the black rhino, promising to spread the word about their plight and to do everything they can to protect endangered species around the world.
