In the season 2 premiere of Camp Lazlo, two different storylines unravel in the same episode. The first is “Hallobeanies”, where the scouts of Camp Kidney are preparing for Halloween. Lazlo, Raj and Clam are going trick or treating and are planning on getting lots of candy. However, Edward, the camp leader, has a different idea for them. He exhibits a record-breaking Hallobeanies, which is a game involving throwing beanbags into holes in giant jack-o-lanterns. Edward fancies himself the champion of the game and expects the scouts to gather the supplies and set up the playing field for him. However, the scouts become too involved in the game and forget the candy and trick-or-treating they had planned for Halloween.
The second storyline is “Meatman” where the campers prepare for meat night. The meat supplier has never failed to deliver meat, but this time, he does not show up. The campers are bummed and nervous about how to handle the situation, but Raj is excited at the possibility of a vegetarian meal. Ironically, he changes his mind afterward. The scouts decide to go looking for the missing meat supplier, but amidst their search, they stumble upon an awkward realization.
Throughout the episode, Lazlo, Raj and Clam are seen being best friends, playing and getting into various funny situations that add humor to the show. Similarly, Edward's character appears to be comical as well, showcasing his "competitive" personality and his love for Hallobeanies. The episode also features a lot of Halloween elements like pumpkin patches, spooky music and costumes.
Indeed, the premiere of the season is jam-packed with various emotions that any child growing up on Camp Lazlo would be familiar with. It has the fun, adventurous and creative antics that the show is known for and is likely to leave viewers eagerly anticipating the rest of the season.
