Hank is in New York City for a meeting about "Fucking and Punching," the movie based on his book. While at his hotel, he runs into a beautiful woman named Carrie who is a literary agent. They instantly hit it off and spend the night together. The next day, Hank finds out that Carrie is gay and has a girlfriend. Despite this, they continue to hang out and enjoy each other's company.
Back in Los Angeles, Karen is dealing with Becca's newfound interest in a boy named Tyler. Karen is worried about the age difference between Becca and Tyler and about Tyler's intentions. She confides in Hank, who agrees to keep an eye on Tyler and make sure he treats Becca right.
Meanwhile, Charlie is struggling with his job at the agency. He feels like he's not making any progress and is getting overlooked for promotions. His boss, Sue, agrees to give him a shot at representing a new client, a female rock star named Krull who is notorious for her wild behavior. Charlie must navigate Krull's demands while also dealing with the pressure from his boss to make her a success.
As the episode progresses, Hank's relationship with Carrie becomes more complicated. He starts to develop feelings for her, despite knowing that she is gay and has a girlfriend. Meanwhile, Karen and Becca's relationship is strained as Karen tries to protect Becca from getting hurt.
