Hank Moody is back in action in the season 4 episode 2 of Californication titled "Suicide Solution." In this episode, Hank finds himself in a downward spiral after his failed attempt at getting his lost love Karen back. Hank's drinking and drug addiction seem to have escalated, and he's now facing a serious case of writer's block. Adding to the pressure, Hank's agent Charlie Runkle is now his boss at Runkle Mia, a talent agency Hank was forced to join due to his financial troubles.
As much as Hank is trying to deny his troubles, it's clear that his life is falling apart. His relationship with his daughter, Becca, is strained, and he can't seem to find inspiration for his writing. Hank's world is suddenly turned upside down when he gets a call from a troubled teenage girl named Kali, who threatens to commit suicide. Hank sees this as an opportunity to help someone and maybe even find redemption for himself.
Hank's journey to save Kali takes him on a wild ride around LA, where he connects with various characters, both good and bad. Hank teams up with Samurai Apocalypse, a rockstar who is also battling his own demons, to save Kali. Along the way, Hank reconnects with a former flame, Felicia Koons, who introduces him to the world of BDSM.
