Hank Moody of Californication has had a rough go of it thus far. He's still struggling with his ex-girlfriend, Karen, and their daughter, Becca. On top of that, he's dealing with the fact that his ex has a new man in her life. It's no wonder that he turns to drugs and alcohol as a way to cope with all the stress in his life.
The beginning of the episode, "Coke Dick & the First Kick," finds Hank in a desperate situation. He's run out of money, and he doesn't have any drugs left. That's when his friend, Charlie, comes to his rescue. Charlie lends Hank some money, and the two of them spend the night snorting coke and drinking alcohol.
The next day, Hank has a run-in with a woman named Carrie. She's Becca's teacher, and she's concerned about Hank's parenting skills. Hank brushes her off, but later that night, he runs into her again at a strip club. Carrie is there with some of her friends, and she invites Hank to join them. Hank agrees, but things quickly spiral out of control.
Hank and Carrie start flirting with each other, and before long, they're making out on one of the club's couches. Carrie starts to get a little too handsy, though, and Hank backs away. That's when he realizes that he's developed a serious case of erectile dysfunction thanks to all the drugs and alcohol.
The rest of the episode follows Hank as he tries to get his mojo back. He visits his doctor, who prescribes him some medication, but it doesn't seem to help. Meanwhile, Becca is starting to act out at school, and Hank is worried that his drug use is rubbing off on her.
To make matters worse, Karen shows up at Hank's apartment with her new boyfriend in tow. Hank does his best to be civil, but he can't help feeling angry and jealous. He decides to drown his sorrows at a bar, but things take a turn for the worse when he gets into a fight with a group of guys.
The episode ends with Hank sitting alone in his apartment, feeling sorry for himself. It's clear that he needs to get his life together, but it's not clear if he'll be able to do it.
