Ep 14. Ultimate Christmas Front Yard

In season 5 episode 14 of Cake Wars, titled "Ultimate Christmas Front Yard," the competitors are challenged to create stunning and festive front yard cake displays that incorporate classic holiday elements like snowmen, reindeer, and Christmas lights.

The bakers are divided into teams and are given four hours to design, bake, and decorate their creations. The judges, including host Jonathan Bennett and special guest judge Tamera Mowry-Housley, will be looking for cakes that are not only visually impressive but also taste delicious.

The first team decides to create a snowman family on their cake, complete with a snow-covered yard and festive Christmas lights. They use fondant to create the snow and small details like scarves and hats for the snowmen. The second team chooses to create a reindeer-themed cake, with a large reindeer head as the centerpiece and smaller reindeer around the yard. They use chocolate cake for the reindeer and fondant for the antlers.

The third team makes a gingerbread house as the centerpiece of their cake, surrounding it with gingerbread men and Christmas trees. They use gingerbread, royal icing, and fondant to create a detailed and intricate design. The fourth team decides to create a Santa's workshop-themed display, with a large toy factory as the centerpiece and elves working around it. They use rice cereal treats for the base of the factory and fondant for the decorations.

As the teams work on their creations, they face various challenges such as timing, design issues, and unexpected obstacles. One team's cake starts to lean to one side, causing them to have to adjust their design on the fly. Another team struggles with creating a stable base for their cake, causing them to worry about their cake falling apart during judging.

Despite the challenges, all of the teams manage to finish their cakes within the time limit and present them to the judges. The judges are impressed with the creativity and skill displayed by each team, but ultimately must choose a winner based on both appearance and taste.
