Ep 1. Chapter 1: Dreams

In the first episode of the Spanish period drama series Cable Girls, we are introduced to four women from different walks of life, Alba, Carlota, Marga, and Angeles, who find themselves working as operators in a telephone exchange company in Madrid in 1928. Meanwhile, the company's supervisor, Angeles (Maggie Civantos), tries to keep order amongst the girls while dealing with her own personal woes. She is torn between her obligation to her husband and her growing feelings for the company's handsome administrator, Carlos (Martiño Rivas).

As the four women begin to form a bond, they find themselves in the midst of a workplace scandal involving the company's CEO and a plot to spy on its employees. They soon realize that they will have to work together if they want to protect their jobs and their dignity, especially with the company's strict "no romance" policy.

Chapter 1: Dreams sets the tone for the rest of the series, highlighting the struggles of women during a time when they were expected to conform to societal norms and be subservient to men. The show also sheds light on the importance of the telephone exchange in connecting people and how the women working there were instrumental in facilitating communication during a crucial period in Spanish history.
