In Buso Renkin season 1 episode 1, "A New Life," we are introduced to the main character, Kazuki Muto. After sacrificing himself to save a girl from being killed by a strange monster, Kazuki wakes up in the hospital with no memory of how he got there. He soon discovers that the girl he saved, Tokiko Tsumura, is a warrior who has the ability to turn objects into weapons called "Buso Renkin." Kazuki is shocked to learn that he was killed by the monster, and that Tokiko revived him by implanting a Kakugane, an alchemical device that can create a Buso Renkin.
As Kazuki tries to adjust to his new life as a warrior, he is attacked by a group of humanoid homunculi, who are also after the Kakugane. During the battle, Kazuki learns that his own Buso Renkin is a lance called "Sunlight Heart," and he uses it to defeat one of the homunculi. The battle is interrupted by Captain Bravo, a flamboyant warrior who is also after the Kakugane. Bravo tells Kazuki and Tokiko that the homunculi are created by a mysterious organization called the LXE, whose goal is to obtain the Kakugane and use it to create an ultimate weapon.
After the battle, Kazuki returns to his normal life, but he can't stop thinking about his new role as a warrior. He decides to help Tokiko in her mission to stop the LXE and find out more about the Kakugane. Together, they go to Kazuki's school to investigate a rumor about a student who is possessed by a homunculus. They discover that the student is indeed a homunculus, and they manage to defeat it with the help of Captain Bravo.
As the episode ends, Kazuki and Tokiko realize that they must continue their fight against the LXE and protect the Kakugane at all costs. They are determined to uncover the secrets behind the alchemical device and the reasons why the LXE is after it.
