After purchasing a house, they get right to work demoing and updating both the exterior and interior. Cristi incorporates her design magic like shiplap walls and farmhouse accents while Ben tackles important structural changes. Together they transform dark, cramped houses into light-filled contemporary homes for modern families.

Some of the fixes viewers see across the first season include opening up floor plans, removing walls, expanding kitchens, adding bathrooms, refinishing hardwood floors, painting cabinets, replacing fixtures and finishes. The couple often incorporates recycled materials and budget-friendly DIY projects alongside higher end upgrades. Each episode showcases the reveal of the home after weeks of intense renovations.
