In Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 4 episode 17, titled Superstar, the gang at Sunnydale High is shocked to find out that their world-famous hero and heartthrob, Jonathan Levinson, has become an even bigger celebrity. Everyone is amazed by his incredible feats and all-around greatness. He's the world record holder in track and field, has written several best-selling books, stars in his own action movie, and even has his own line of action figures.

Buffy, however, can't shake the feeling that something is off about this whole situation. She can't help but feel like Jonathan is more than just a celebrity, like there's something strange going on that she can't put her finger on. Meanwhile, Jonathan is living it up and soaking in the adoration of everyone around him, including Buffy and the rest of the gang.

As Buffy investigates further, she discovers that everyone's memories have been magically altered to make Jonathan seem like the perfect hero. He's a larger-than-life figure, almost too good to be true. Buffy is convinced that there's something sinister going on, but everyone else is too busy worshiping Jonathan to listen to her.

Eventually, Buffy manages to break through the magic and reveal the truth about Jonathan's new position as Sunnydale's resident superstar. She discovers that he's been using a powerful spell to manipulate reality and change his own history. She confronts Jonathan, who admits that he's been feeling overshadowed by Buffy and the other Slayers for a long time and wanted to prove that he could be just as powerful and great as they are.

Buffy attempts to reason with Jonathan, but he's too far gone. He unleashes a powerful monster to defeat her, but Buffy and the gang manage to defeat it and break the spell. Jonathan is left to face the consequences of his actions, but Buffy extends an olive branch, telling him that he doesn't have to be perfect to be a hero. In the end, Sunnydale goes back to normal, and Jonathan is left to figure out who he really is without the fame and power he gained from the spell.

Superstar is a unique episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer that takes a deep dive into the notion of heroism and the pitfalls of trying to live up to other people's expectations. It's a fun, lighthearted episode filled with humor and self-awareness, but it also has a powerful message about the dangers of trying to be someone else. Fans of the show will love Superstar for its clever writing, excellent performances, and unexpected twists and turns.
