In season 3 episode 9 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer titled "The Wish," we see the town of Sunnydale plagued by a brutal series of vampire attacks. Buffy and the rest of the gang are struggling to keep up with the number of killings and have yet to find a solution to the problem. Meanwhile, Cordelia is feeling resentful of her former friends and the fact that she is no longer part of the popular crowd. She unknowingly stumbles upon a demon who grants her a wish and, in true Cordelia fashion, she wishes that Buffy had never come to Sunnydale.
The demon grants her wish and suddenly Cordelia is living in a world where Buffy never arrived. At first, Cordelia is thrilled with her new life. She is popular again and still dating her crush, Xander. However, she soon discovers that this alternate reality is far more dangerous than the one she left behind. In this reality, the Master, a powerful vampire that Buffy killed, has taken over Sunnydale and the entire town is now overrun with vampires.
Meanwhile, Buffy and the rest of the gang realize that Cordelia's wish has caused a major rift in the fabric of reality. They must work together to figure out how to reverse the wish and put things back to the way they were before. The only problem is, they don't know how to reverse the wish or even where Cordelia is right now.
As the gang tries to figure out a way to fix things, Cordelia begins to see the true horror of this alternate reality. Her newfound popularity means nothing when she's constantly in danger of being attacked and killed by vampires. Cordelia desperately tries to find a way out of this reality, but she soon realizes that she's going to need Buffy's help to do it.
With time running out, Buffy and the rest of the gang work frantically to find a way to reverse the wish and bring Cordelia back to the reality they know. They finally discover that the demon who granted Cordelia's wish is actually a vengeance demon who preys on people's negative emotions. Buffy and the gang must face off against the demon and try to convince her to reverse Cordelia's wish.
In the end, Buffy and the gang succeed, and Cordelia is returned to the reality she left behind. She's grateful for the lesson she's learned and the friends she's made. The episode ends with the gang feeling closer than ever before, having been through such a harrowing experience together.
