In "Brickleberry" season 1 episode 5, titled "Race Off," the park rangers are thrilled to be hosting a NASCAR race, which promises to bring in thousands of visitors and give the struggling park a much-needed financial boost. However, things quickly go awry when it becomes clear that Steve is in charge of organizing the event.
As always, Steve's over-the-top enthusiasm and lack of common sense leads to a series of disastrous decisions that threaten to ruin everything. First, he books a washed up driver named Billy Grapefruit (voiced by John DiMaggio) to race, despite the fact that he hasn't won a race in over a decade. Then, he decides to make the event even more exciting by adding some dangerous obstacles to the track, such as a live shark tank and a flaming hoop.
Meanwhile, Denzel is struggling to deal with his racist tendencies after being paired up with an African American ranger named Ethel. To prove to himself that he's not prejudiced, Denzel decides to run for mayor of Brickleberry against a white candidate.
As the race draws closer, Ethel becomes increasingly uncomfortable with Denzel's campaign, which relies heavily on racial stereotypes and offensive humor. In an attempt to sabotage his opponent, Denzel enlists Woody's help in rigging the race track with a series of bizarre traps and weapons.
The episode culminates in a chaotic and hilarious climax, as the drivers battle their way through the dangerous obstacles and Denzel's racist antics threaten to derail the whole event. Will Billy Grapefruit finally win a race? Will Denzel confront his prejudices? And most importantly, will the park rangers survive the NASCAR race from hell? Tune in to find out!
