His partner, Jesse Pinkman is a former student of his, who is small-time meth dealer. They have now produced their first batch of meth and are planning on selling it.
In "Crazy Handful of Nothin'," Walter becomes increasingly paranoid about the safety of his family after he and Jesse are robbed at gunpoint by two drug dealers. He begins to fashion himself a new persona, "Heisenberg," a ruthless drug lord who will stop at nothing to protect his operation.
Walter surprises everyone with a new plan to not only protect his operation but also to increase their profits. After a day of feeling powerless, Walter's confidence returns, and when he meets with the drug dealers who robbed him, he pulls out a bag of crystal meth worth $50,000. He throws it to the ground and it explodes like a bomb, killing the two dealers and destroying the room.
Back at home, Walter has become a completely different person. He shaves his head and has a new attitude, frightening his wife, Skyler. He rushes to see Jesse and demands that they continue manufacturing more meth using the new method, ensuring that they will become wealthy. Jesse, however, is concerned about the new danger that Walter brings upon them and his own well-being. As Jesse tries to resist his former mentor, Walter makes a shocking decision that will forever change their partnership.
