In the eighteenth episode of season four of Botched, titled "Junk in the Trunk," plastic surgeons Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif continue to fix the messed up cosmetic procedures carried out by unscrupulous and untrained practitioners.
The episode features three patients seeking the help of the doctors. Firstly, there is Mary, a mother of five, who has had multiple surgeries to get a curvy body. She suffers from capsular contraction that has caused her breast implants to harden and deform. Her surgeon has also placed an implant on her outer hip that has caused a terrible deformity that is affecting her confidence. Dr. Nassif sympathizes with her plight and explains how he plans on fixing the issue. He wants to remove the hip implant and replace it with tissue from her waist to create symmetry. Additionally, to fix her breast problem, he proposes changing her implant size and type, so that the symmetry between her breasts is restored.
Next is Megan, a beauty queen who wants to fix the botched nose job she got from an inexperienced practitioner. She reveals how she has been living with the unfortunate nose job for over a year and it has affected her mental health and career as a model. Dr. Dubrow and Dr. Nassif have to battle to get her an acceptable outcome. Dr. Nassif suggests that he will use cartilage from her ear to support the nostrils while Dr. Dubrow proposes using rib cartilage to fix her nose's bridge. The doctors agree on a plan, and Megan undergoes the procedure that leaves her relieved and happy.
Lastly, there is Maribel, a Mexican grandmother that has gone through several surgeries to get an hourglass body. Her first surgeon performed a Brazilian butt lift but injected fat too deeply and inappropriately, causing adverse reactions that leave her in pain. The surgery has caused extensive lumpiness and discoloration in the targeted areas, leading her to avoid social gatherings as a result. Dr. Dubrow and Dr. Nassif suggest using hyaluronidase, a solution that helps break down her structure, and then correcting the affected areas with minor touch-ups. After some deliberation, the patient agrees to the procedure, and the doctors work to restore her curves and confidence.
The episode also features behind scenes conversations with Dr. Nassif and Dr. Dubrow, who discuss their extensive experience in the field of plastic surgery. The two doctors share their opinions on why patients need to ensure that they get experienced practitioners for cosmetic procedures. They also discuss the complications that can arise from failing to follow post-operation instructions.
Botched season 4 episode 18 is an exciting, informative, and engaging episode that showcases the doctors' extensive expertise in correcting botched surgeries. It is a must-watch for anyone who wishes to understand how to address plastic surgery complications with minimal risks.
