Alan Shore (James Spader) and Denny Crane (William Shatner) find themselves defending a woman who is accused of killing her husband in the episode "Gone" from season 2 of Boston Legal. The case takes a new twist when the woman suddenly disappears and the two lawyers are left scrambling to find her while trying to prove her innocence. Meanwhile, the senior partners at Crane, Poole & Schmidt, including Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen) and Paul Lewiston (Rene Auberjonois), are dealing with their own crisis as they try to prevent a former employee from suing the firm for discrimination. Complicating matters is the fact that the former employee is black and the partners fear a backlash from the media and their clients.
As tensions run high both inside and outside the courtroom, relationships are put to the test and loyalties are questioned. But in the end, it is the unexpected twist in the murder trial that leaves everyone reeling and questioning what they thought they knew.
