Alan Shore and Denny Crane are back for another season of wacky legal hijinks in Boston Legal. In season 2, episode 2 entitled "Schadenfreude," the pair take on a new case involving a woman who is suing her employer for wrongful termination.
The woman, played by guest star Jane Lynch, claims that she was fired because of her weight. She was a successful sales executive at a pharmaceutical company but was let go after she gained a significant amount of weight due to a medical condition. The company claims that they fired her for performance-related issues, but the woman argues that her weight should not have been a factor.
Alan Shore takes on the woman's case and uses his trademark wit and charm to win over the jury. However, things take a strange turn when he starts to develop a strange attraction to the defendant. He begins to feel guilty about representing her and starts to question his motives.
Meanwhile, Denny Crane is dealing with his own legal troubles. He has been accused of insider trading and is facing a lengthy prison sentence. He decides to defend himself in court, but the case takes a bizarre twist when he starts to suffer from a rare medical condition that causes him to hallucinate.
As the trial unfolds, Alan and Denny continue to take on new clients and defend them in their own unique ways. They spar with opposing counsel, take on corrupt politicians, and even defend a man who claims to have psychic powers.
Through it all, the show continues to explore the complex issues surrounding the legal system and the quest for justice. It combines comedy, drama, and social commentary to create a unique and engaging television experience.
