Bosch Season 2 Episode 1, "Trunk Music," picks up where Season 1 left off, following the life of Los Angeles Police Detective Harry Bosch. The show opens with Bosch in his house, listening to a recording of his mother, who had recently passed away. Bosch is clearly still grappling with her death, as he listens to a cassette tape of a conversation he had with her and her words of encouragement as he was coming out of a coma, exacerbated by a suspect's near-fatal attack.
The episode soon moves on to Bosch's latest case: a high-profile murder. The victim is Tony Allen, a not-so-successful music producer who has been found dead in the trunk of his car, parked in an empty lot. Bosch is on the case with his partner, Jerry Edgar, and they quickly realize that there are a lot of people who would have wanted Tony Allen dead. Allen had a lot of enemies, and every person they interview seems to have a motive.
As Bosch and Edgar investigate the murder, it becomes clear that they are going to have to navigate the complicated world of the music industry to solve the case. They begin by talking to Allen's business partner and ex-girlfriend, who seems to be hiding something. They also talk to a young artist Allen was working with who seems to have a temper and a grudge against Allen.
Throughout the episode, we see the toll that the job is taking on Bosch. He is constantly under a great deal of stress, and it is clear that he is still dealing with his mother's death. He talks about her often and even visits his childhood home, where he reminisces about the past.
As Bosch and Edgar continue to investigate, they discover that Tony Allen had some questionable connections to the mob. This leads them down a dark path that puts both of their lives in danger. The tension continues to build as they get closer to discovering who is responsible for the murder, and the episode culminates in a dramatic confrontation that leaves Bosch more determined than ever to solve the case.
Overall, Bosch Season 2 Episode 1 is a tense, fast-paced mystery that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. It's a great start to the season and sets the tone for what is sure to be an intense and exciting ride. The episode effectively balances the case at hand with the personal struggles of its main character, making for a well-rounded and engaging viewing experience.
