The Cursed Forest is an episode of the first season of the popular anime series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. In this episode, the village of Konoha is experiencing a strange phenomenon where various parts of the forest are turning black and withering away, including plants and trees. This issue has been labeled as the "curse of the forest," and it has the potential to cause severe damage to the ecosystem of the village if left unchecked. Several shinobi from the Hidden Leaf Village embark on a mission to investigate the cause of this curse and find a way to put an end to it before it's too late.
The main character of the series, Boruto Uzumaki, is reunited with his childhood friend, Sumire Kakei, who had left the village to travel the world and find herself. However, Sumire hears about the cursed forest and decides to return to the village to help investigate the matter. As she reunites with Boruto, they pick up where they left off. Although there are a lot of friendly pleasantries, Sumire's intuition quickly tells her that Boruto is not the same person she remembers. He has grown significantly stronger and can easily take on any challenge.
The investigation party includes not only Boruto and Sumire but a host of other talented shinobi from the village, including some from the Ninja Science Club, Shikadai Nara, Chocho Akimichi, Inojin Yamanaka, and Akita Inuzuka. The team sets out to explore the cursed forest, which is rumored to be the source of the mysterious phenomenon. They head towards the center of the forest, where they find a massive tree with purple aura emanating from it.
Upon closer investigation, it is discovered that the tree is the source of the curse, and its fairy inhabitants have been disturbed by the chakra of the humans. The team discovers that these fairies are unique creatures that consume chakra in a bid to suppress their anger and outrage at the humans for disturbing their forest home. It is only by reading the fairy's memories that they can understand the source of the curse and find a solution to the problem.
The team discovers that the commander of the scientific research unit, Mugino, is related to the origin of the curse and is defending the forest for personal reasons. Despite Mugino's objections, the team comes to the conclusion that the only way to cure the curse is by consuming the chakra from the cursed tree using Mugino's specialized weapon. In a dramatic fight scene, the team bravely enters the tree to extract its inner chakra and cure the curse.
