In the seventh episode of the first season of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, titled "Love and Potato Chips!", we see Boruto struggling with his romantic feelings for Sumire. What starts off as a typical day at the Academy quickly turns into chaos when the students discover that someone has stolen all of the potato chips from the vending machines. The students are outraged and determined to find the culprit.
In the midst of all this drama, Boruto can't seem to get Sumire off his mind. He spends most of his time daydreaming about her, which leads him to make some reckless decisions. In an attempt to impress Sumire, Boruto volunteers to head up the investigation into the missing chips. His ego and desire to be seen as a hero by Sumire cloud his judgment, and he doesn't take the investigation as seriously as he should.
Meanwhile, the true culprit behind the theft is revealed to be Denki, who was trying to save enough money to buy a game he really wanted. His friend, Iwabe, finds out about the theft and confronts Denki. When the adults find out about the missing chips, Iwabe takes the blame for the theft to protect Denki. The Academy teachers see through Iwabe's lie but allow the students to return the stolen chips as a lesson in taking responsibility for one's actions.
As the day wears on, Boruto becomes more and more desperate to impress Sumire. He comes up with a bold plan to catch the chip thief and announces it to the entire class. The plan involves sneaking into a restricted area of the school in the middle of the night and setting up a trap. The other students are hesitant, but Boruto's charisma wins them over, and they agree to help him.
During the break-in, the group stumbles upon a group of mysterious figures in black cloaks. They are engaged in some kind of ritual, but before the students can investigate further, they are caught and chased out of the area. Boruto realizes that he has put his classmates in danger and feels guilty for his reckless behavior.
In the end, the missing potato chips are returned, and the students learn valuable lessons about responsibility and consequences. Boruto comes to understand that he needs to be true to himself and not try to be someone he's not. He also learns that just being himself is enough to impress Sumire, and that he doesn't need to try so hard to win her affection.
"Love and Potato Chips!" is a lighthearted episode that focuses on the relationships between the young Academy students. It explores themes of friendship, responsibility, and the pitfalls of trying to impress others. It also sets up some interesting questions for future episodes, such as who were the mysterious figures in black and what were they doing in the restricted area of the school. Fans of the Naruto universe will enjoy seeing the next generation of characters in action and getting to know them better.
