Born This Way is a reality TV series that takes you inside the lives of a group of young adults with Down syndrome. In this season 2, episode 9, titled Dream Come True, we get to see the achievements and aspirations of each of the cast members.
The show opens up with John Tucker, who wants to be an actor, practicing his lines for an upcoming audition. We get to see his parents talking about how John has always been interested in movies, and how they support his dream of becoming an actor. Later, we see John auditioning for a role in a movie, and it's heartwarming to see how confident he is in his abilities.
Next, we meet Megan Bomgaars, an aspiring fashion designer who has Down syndrome. She has just returned from a modeling gig in New York and is now busy working on her new fashion line. She is seen working with her mentor, who is helping her prepare for an upcoming fashion show. The support and guidance provided to Megan by her mentor are evident as we see Megan gaining confidence in her abilities as a fashion designer.
Moving on, we are introduced to Rachel Osterbach, who has been preparing for her first dance performance. Her family is excited to see her take part in the show and are there to support her every step of the way. As Rachel gets ready backstage, we can see how nervous she is, but at the same time, how determined she is to do her best.
As the show progresses, we are introduced to Steven Clark, who has been practicing for a big event. Steven, who has Down syndrome, is an accomplished motivational speaker, and he has been asked to speak at a TEDx event. We see Steven working with a speech coach, trying to perfect his message and delivery. It is evident that Steven is passionate about speaking and wants to use his platform to raise awareness about the capabilities of people with Down syndrome.
Next, the show focuses on Elena Ashmore, who is an accomplished artist. We get to see her working on a new painting, which is a part of her collection for a new art exhibit. Elena's parents talk about how they have always encouraged her creativity and how proud they are of her achievements.
Last but not least, we meet Sean McElwee, who wants to be a gangsta rapper. We see him practicing his rapping skills and writing new lyrics for a song that he hopes to perform. Sean's family is supportive of his dream and wants him to succeed.
As the episode progresses, we get to see each of the cast members achieve their dreams. John gets a call back for his audition and is overjoyed. Megan's fashion line is a huge success, and she gets invited to showcase her collection at a prominent fashion show. Rachel's dance performance is a hit, and she receives a standing ovation from the audience. Steven delivers a powerful speech at the TEDx event, which is well received by the audience. Elena's art exhibit is successful, with her paintings praised by art critics. Sean gets the opportunity to perform his original song in front of a live audience.
Overall, the episode is an emotional and heartwarming tribute to the amazing abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome.
