Boomtown was a crime drama television series that originally aired on the Planet Green network from 2002 to 2003. The show boasted an impressive cast of seasoned actors including Gary Basaraba, Nina Garbiras, Jason Gedrick, Neal McDonough, Lana Parrilla, Donnie Wahlberg, and Mykelti Williamson.

Set in Los Angeles, the show followed a team of police detectives and other law enforcement officers as they dealt with complex criminal cases that often blurred the lines between good and evil. Each episode featured a unique story that was told through the eyes of the different characters involved, including the detectives, the criminals, and the victims.

One of the unique aspects of the show was its non-linear storytelling style. Each episode was divided into several segments that focused on different aspects of the case, jumping back and forth in time in order to provide a more complete picture of what had happened. This approach allowed the audience to see how each character's actions and decisions impacted the outcome of the case.

Gary Basaraba played the character of Officer Ray Hechler, a streetwise cop who often butted heads with his partner, Detective Joel Stevens, played by Jason Gedrick. Nina Garbiras played Andrea Little, a plucky reporter with a nose for news who frequently found herself embroiled in the cases that the detectives were investigating.

Neal McDonough played the role of David McNorris, a Deputy District Attorney with a troubled past who was determined to bring down the city's criminal element. Lana Parrilla played McNorris' ex-wife, Teresa Ortiz, who worked as a public defender and often found herself representing the very people that McNorris was trying to put behind bars.

Donnie Wahlberg played the character of Detective Joel Stevens' brother, Detective Matt Stevens, who was often at odds with his sibling due to their conflicting personalities and priorities. Mykelti Williamson rounded out the cast as Detective Bobby 'Fearless' Smith, a seasoned cop who provided a steady hand and sage advice to the other members of the team.

Despite its high production values and talented cast, Boomtown struggled to find an audience during its original run on Planet Green. The show was cancelled after only one season, leaving fans frustrated and disappointed.

Many critics praised the show's innovative storytelling style and strong performances, but others found the non-linear approach confusing and hard to follow. Despite its flaws, Boomtown remains an influential and memorable entry in the crime drama genre, paving the way for other shows to experiment with unique narrative structures and character perspectives.
