Bookaboo is a children's television program that centers around a rock-loving dog named Bookaboo, who is the drummer for a popular band. However, there's just one problem - Bookaboo has lost his love for drumming and no longer sees the point in playing music. To help him regain his passion for drumming, he needs to be read a story by a celebrity guest.
In season 1 episode 1 of Bookaboo, titled "Bookaboo's Howl-o-ween - Selma Blair and Guillermo Diaz," Bookaboo is in desperate need of a story to reignite his love for drumming. Just in time for Halloween, he meets two famous guests: Selma Blair and Guillermo Diaz.
The episode opens with Bookaboo preparing for Halloween. As he tries on different costumes, he discovers his costume from last year - a wolf. Seeing the costume brings back memories of a special story that was read to him, one that ultimately led him to discover his love for drumming. However, Bookaboo cannot remember the story or who read it to him.
As Bookaboo struggles with his frustration and confusion, he is approached by Selma Blair and Guillermo Diaz, who are dressed as a witch and a werewolf, respectively. They introduce themselves and tell Bookaboo that they have the perfect story for him. However, there's a catch - Bookaboo must play the drums alongside the story.
The three of them take a seat on the brightly-colored set and begin reading "The Hairy Toe," while Bookaboo plays his drum set. The story is about a boy who discovers a hairy toe while walking through the woods. But when the boy takes the toe home and eats it, he is haunted by a ghost who demands the return of its toe.
Throughout the story, Bookaboo's energy increases as he becomes more engaged in the tale and begins to understand its deeper meaning. He laughs at the silly parts and jumps at the scary parts, completely immersed in the story-telling experience. By the end of the book, Bookaboo is completely enthralled and wholeheartedly invested in drumming once again.
The episode ends with Bookaboo performing with his band in front of an excited crowd, completely embracing his love for drumming once more. Selma Blair and Guillermo Diaz watch from the wings, proud of the impact that their story has had on Bookaboo and his love for music.
