Harriet the Bearded Dragon is the seventh episode of the fifth season of Bondi Vet, an Australian reality television series that follows the work of veterinarians at a veterinary clinic located in Bondi Beach, Sydney. The show is hosted by Dr. Chris Brown, a famous veterinarian who travels around the globe researching and treating unique animal cases.
In this episode, Dr. Chris Brown receives a letter from a concerned pet owner regarding Harriet, a bearded dragon who has been struggling with her health. Her owner explains that Harriet has been diagnosed with cancer and is in need of immediate medical attention. Dr. Chris takes on the challenge and heads to Harriet's home to examine her and determine the best course of treatment.
Upon arrival, Dr. Chris is introduced to Harriet and her owner, who explain that Harriet has been lethargic and not eating as she should. Dr. Chris performs a thorough examination on Harriet and determines that she has a large tumour growing in her abdomen. He discusses the situation with Harriet's owner, explaining the risks of surgery and the likelihood of the tumour being malignant.
After careful consideration, Harriet's owner decides to go ahead with the surgery in hopes of saving her life. Dr. Chris performs the surgery with his veterinary team, removing the tumour successfully. However, the surgery takes longer than anticipated due to the tumour's size, and Harriet's body temperature drops during the operation.
Dr. Chris and his team work quickly to stabilize Harriet and warm her up. Once Harriet's body temperature is back to normal, Dr. Chris checks on her progress and is pleased to find that she is recovering well. He provides Harriet's owner with post-surgery care instructions, including medication and monitoring her food intake.
As the days go by, Dr. Chris returns to check on Harriet's progress and is happy to see that she is eating and moving around again. He performs a follow-up examination on Harriet and determines that the tumour was benign and her outlook is positive. Harriet's owner is overjoyed to hear the news and thanks Dr. Chris and his team for their exceptional care.
Harriet's story is a reminder of the importance of regular veterinary checkups and being attentive to any changes in your pet's behaviour. It also showcases the skill and dedication of Dr. Chris Brown and his veterinary team at Bondi Vet. With their expertise, Harriet was able to receive the necessary medical attention she needed and is now able to live a healthy life.
