Adam, Hoss, and Joe cart the unconscious Vittoro to the Silver Creek reservation, hoping to negotiate a peace treaty before General Pico and his cavalry arrive. Meanwhile, Ben and Jamie encounter a beautiful young woman named Jemaline, who's on the run from a group of ruffians led by the notorious Bob Miles. Although her story is suspect, Ben invites her to stay at the Ponderosa until her uncle can be located. When Bob Miles and his gang come gunning for Jemaline, Ben and Jamie defend her, and ultimately track down her family and her true identity as a wealthy Eastern heiress, preserving her newfound confidence and giving Jamie a glimmer of hope for a romantic future.
