As the title suggests, "The Hakuoh Pirates' First Job" features the Hakuoh Academy Space Yacht Club's first gig as legitimate space pirates. Marika Kato, the captain of the Bentenmaru, is tasked with guiding the novice crew as they embark on their maiden voyage, which brings them to the planet Sea of the Morningstar.
The Hakuoh Pirates, consisting of Marika's classmates, are excited to be part of a real pirate crew. Ririka, Marika's mother, explains that their job is to intercept a cargo ship and transfer the goods to their sponsor, the CEO of a small business.
As they prepare for their mission, the Hakuoh Pirates are ambushed by a rival space pirate crew led by Ironbeard, who also wants to steal the cargo. After a dramatic chase sequence, the Hakuoh Pirates succeed in capturing the cargo ship and outrunning Ironbeard's crew.
Once they dock at the Sea of the Morningstar, the Hakuoh Pirates deliver the cargo to their sponsor, who is revealed to be a professor researching ancient artifacts. The professor thanks the crew for their help and offers to show them one of the artifacts she has discovered.
As they explore the professor's lab, the Hakuoh Pirates stumble upon an unusual statue that Marika recognizes from her childhood. The statue triggers a flashback of a memory Marika had long forgotten and sets up the plot for the next episode.
"The Hakuoh Pirates' First Job" showcases the evolution of the Hakuoh Pirates from a mere space yacht club to a real space pirate crew. It highlights the importance of teamwork, resilience, and quick thinking in the face of unexpected obstacles. The episode also adds a new layer to the overall plot of the show by introducing the mysterious statue that will likely play a vital role in the future.
