As a space pirate, Marika Kato always has a lot on her plate. But when a prototype ship that can travel faster than the speed of light is stolen, it's up to her and her crew to track it down and bring it back. In season 1, episode 11 of Bodacious Space Pirates, titled "Wanderer of Light," Marika and her crew receive a tip that the ship they're looking for has been spotted in a nearby star system. However, they'll need to be careful, as the system is known for its dangerous space storms.
Once they arrive in the system, Marika and her crew quickly realize that they are not the only ones looking for the prototype ship. Another group of pirates, known as the Iron Galactic Federation, is also on the hunt. Marika knows that she'll need to think quickly if she wants to beat them to the ship. She devises a plan to use her own ship as bait, luring in the Iron Galactic Federation and then striking when the time is right.
As the crew of the Bentenmaru (Marika's ship) prepares for battle, they find themselves facing a strange phenomenon. A beam of light seems to appear out of nowhere, swirling around the ship. It's unlike anything they've ever seen before, and they realize that they're dealing with some kind of unknown alien technology. Marika is determined to get her hands on the prototype ship, but first, they'll need to figure out how to deal with this strange light.
As the battle begins, Marika and her crew prove their pirate skills. They use a combination of brute force, strategy, and quick thinking to take down the Iron Galactic Federation and claim the prototype ship for themselves. But as they're celebrating their victory, they realize that the strange light is still present. It's not going away, and it seems to be trying to communicate with them.
Marika realizes that if she wants to understand what's going on, she'll need to make contact with the alien technology. With the help of her crew, she manages to do just that. What she learns is both shocking and fascinating. The alien technology is a type of living light that is millions of years old. It has been traveling through space, observing everything in its path. And now, it has chosen to communicate with Marika and her crew for an unknown reason.
As Marika and her crew continue to communicate with the Wanderer of Light (as the light is now known), they learn more and more about its mission and purpose. They discover that the prototype ship they've been searching for is actually a tool that the Wanderer of Light needs to complete its mission. Marika must decide whether she's willing to hand over the ship to this mysterious alien creature, or if she'll keep it for herself and continue her own pirate activities.
Throughout the episode, viewers are treated to vibrant, colorful animation and a thrilling soundtrack that perfectly captures the excitement of space battles and alien encounters.
