Ep 2. Let's Get Wiggy With It!
- October 8, 2005
In Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo season 1 episode 2, titled "Let's Get Wiggy With It!," the wacky adventures of the protagonist Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo and his ragtag group of bizarre allies continue. The episode begins with Bobobo and his companions, Beauty, Don Patch, and Heppokomaru, venturing to the sprawling Wiggin' Plaza in search of new wigs and hair accessories. Bobobo, the hirsute hero of the series, is renowned for his outlandish and ever-changing hairstyles that range from pompadours to afros to literal vines sprouting from his scalp.
As they peruse the shops, the group is approached by a menacing figure named Halekulani, who claims to be the leader of an organization known as the "Hair Hunters." Halekulani and his cronies, who all sport flamboyant and intricate hairdos, seek to dominate the world by monopolizing the hair market and controlling the flow of follicles. They view Bobobo and his wild 'dos as a threat to their schemes and launch an attack on the plaza.
What follows is a battle royale between Bobobo and the Hair Hunters as they duke it out with a variety of hair-themed weapons and abilities. Bobobo unleashes his signature move, the "Nose Hair Shower," which sprays a deluge of prehensile nose hairs at his enemies. Don Patch, a clown-like creature who wears a pumpkin on his head, utilizes his "Pumpkin Dance" attack to hurl exploding gourds at the villains. Beauty, the lone sane member of the group, contributes her martial arts skills to the fracas. Even Heppokomaru, a talking sentient piece of poop, gets in on the action by flinging himself at the enemies.
As the battle rages on, the Hair Hunters unleash their ultimate weapon - a massive comb-shaped robot that towers over the plaza. Bobobo and his cohorts unite their powers to take down the colossal contraption, leading to a satisfying conclusion to the episode.
Throughout the zany escapades and absurd hijinks, one constant remains - the show's irreverent and tongue-in-cheek humor. From societal satire to fourth-wall breaks and self-aware commentary on shonen anime tropes, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo delights in upending expectations and delivering a surreal and hilarious ride. Season 1, episode 2 "Let's Get Wiggy With It!" serves as a prime example of the series' off-the-wall style and offbeat charm, making it a fan-favorite installment in the show's run.
